Do you get a headache if you don't wear your glasses?

Today I went out shopping with a friend. It wasn't a big shop, just a brief trip into town for a couple of things. In a hurry I didn't wear my contacts, when I got home I had such a headache. Has anyone else had this? I usually wear contacts which are -1.50 and -3.

  1. My right eye has normal vision (no need for correction) and my left eye is at 20/50.  My prescription is PL -1.50 X50.  I will get headaches if I do something like drive (I can legally do this), see a movie, a play, or do some other activity that requires distance vision.

My brain will try to fuse the two images together when one is not in focus and it can cause some nasty headaches.  It was one of the main reasons I started correcting my vision.  I did not do so for several years because my right eye was able to compensate for it.  I think the uneven vision is actually what causes the headaches for me.

I can do near work without getting a headache just fine.  I am using the computer right now without any correction.  I plan on playing the xbox 360 in a few minutes and my left eye has trouble reading the screen. I will probably put my glasses on for that.

I have a friend who at work is -2.00 in both eyes and usually only wears her glasses to drive and watch TV and does not get headaches.  She does not even put them on until she leaves the building.

  2. I have -0.75 in my left eye and -2.00 in my right. I never got around to buying glasses, so I go without correction. I get headaches almost constantly, especially if I am looking at any sort of lit screen (like a TV or an overhead). Driving also makes for great headaches.

  3. Sometimes. Not always, but I do get them from time to time!!!

  4. all the time. i have really bad eyesight and i'm forced to wear my glasses all the time-if i don't, i'll get a headache within 10 minutes.

  5. Totally depends on what you're doing and what your eyesight is, being nearsighted with a significant difference between your eyes if you were squinting much to see clearly that may have triggered a headache.
