Question:

Do you get a point on you license if you run a traffic light in ca?

So a traffic camera caught me running a red light .25 seconds after the light turned red. Even though it seems unfair, I just want to pay it and let it go.

The reason for this is because I was borrowing my dad's car when I got caught. If I pay the bail, does anyone know if my dad will still get a point?

  1. They can't take a point from your license unless they pull you over and give you a paper ticket in person.  Otherwise they have no idea who was driving the car.

Just pay the ticket and let it go.  I hate those stupid stoplight cameras.

  2. Yes.  The presumption is that the registered owner of the car was driving when committing a remote identified moving violation.  If you pay it, the person whose name is on the ticket gets the point.  You can either have your Dad call and identify you as the driver and have the point put on your license or go to traffic school. If you don't believe me, call the CHP or your local police department and they will confirm how this works.
