Do you get annoyed when people use "we" when talking about an NBA team?

i.e.:

"WE need to trade Lamar Odom for Ron Artest" - idiot Lakers fan

"WE're the best team in the league with KG on our team" - idiot Celtics fan

"We played horrible last night. I don't know if we can beat (insert team's name here) in a seven-game series" - idiot fan

Seriously, do these people actually play for the teams? Why do they use "we"?

  1. What up 22,

Every once in awhile it can be annoying- but mainly when people are inconsistent.  Like they say "we" when the team is winning but they dis-associate themselves from the team when the team is struggling and start saying- "what are those guys doing?" kind of thing...  Loyal fans i'm cool with- bandwagoners... not so cool...

    Nickster

  2. i say it but its not crucial

well i say it cause i guess it shows that your a true fan or that your sayin like the city???

    you know?

  3. I HATE THAT

  4. seriously i could not agree with you more it feels almost as if they are stealing credit for something i just want to punch them in the face and say they not we A - Hole

  5. no bc they are a team, a "we"

  6. lets see... if your team wins a championship your suppose to yell out "THEY DID IT!!!"

eh... doesn't sound right to me.

i think you're taking it too literally.

beside i think it shows that YOU aren't really much of a supporter of whoever YOUR team is.

oh. sorry i mean that YOU aren't really much of a supporter of whoever THAT team is.

  7. Dude no offense but you seriously need to stop being such a freaking grammar n**i.

Sometimes fans can become over enthusiastic and use the term "we" because they feel in a way connected to the team. Even though they have no actual affiliation whatever so ever to the team. What's even worse is for you to be a freaking HYPOCRITE!, I mean can you say that you once in your entire life never said out of excitement "we" instead of "them".

  8. no

when people say it, i assume it is because they are really good supporters of the team.

if you love your team then you can use "we"

But I hate I hate it when they use "we" and they are band wagoners =/

Your not supposed to take it literally

  9. i don't particularly

  10. cause they love there there team like ;we; the heat are beast

  11. You gotta support the team.  I had a friend from Philly who would talk about the Eagles in the FIRST person "I need to improve my secondary"

  12. Yes, actually I was irritated by mainly Celtic fans that say that... And some Laker fans are so unloyal to players in their team except for Kobe... I hate Vujacic so I don't mind them being unloyal to him.

By the way, some fans can actually say "We". Jack Nicholson could have said "We" won game 3. Why? Because the refs were blind and this dude from the Celtics was fouling someone from the Lakers for 10 seconds, and Jack[and company] actually stood up to point at the guy! Guess what happened? The foul got called! Jack Nicholson is #1!

  13. You just a lame hater we goin to win thechampionship this year (denver Nuggets) ha ha ha ha aha aha ahaahhahahhahahhahahahhahahahahhahahahah...

  14. No, but I get annoyed when people make up stuff like Bynum telling Shaq how his a$$ tastes after throwing him down or some sad sh*t like that.

  15. There would be no professional sports teams without its fans. If you are a fan of a team. If you attend some games. If you buy some apparel. if you support a team, you have the right to say "we". I live in the DC area. I am a wizards fan. I attend games, I buy apparel, I support my team. Therefore, I hope that "we" can remain healthy next season and I hope that "we" can make it far into the playoffs. Get over it.

  16. h**l ya i thought i was da only 1

  17. most definitely

  18. ya! i kno an thay aint even on da team i men OMG! (g stands 4 gosh)

  19. No I don't...what's the big deal...people are just supporting their team...you've got to relax...

  20. i also thought i was the only one

  21. It's happens either when someone lives vicariously through a team or they are a true supporter of that team and believe themselves to the "6th man" per se. It's not wrong to want to be a part of your local team. The bad thing is if it gets unhealthy for you to the point that you get sick or stressed when your team loses.

  22. I do that all the time but then i think in my head i am not part of that team. But i still use it.

  23. i don't think it's so bad. i think it shows support and loyalty.

as long as they're not doing it compulsively, and seriously think they are a part of that team.

but i do understand what you mean. i do get a little annoyed when the teachers in my high school use the word "we" when talking about our teams that no one in the class is on.

still like i said, it's not so bad, and i try not to make a big deal out of something so insignifigant.

    neither should you.

  24. Absolutely

  25. as a fan, I think it's okay to make a statement like:

"it felt so GREAT when we finally won the championship"

and I think it's not okay when a fan says something like:

"we made a great stop on the last series in the 4th quarter"...oh really??? what number were YOU wearing there Johnny Hightop....

fans have a right to identify with their favorite team - and in my mind the longer you've been rooting, the more credibility you have in this sense of identifying with a franchise you been rooting for even when they basically SUCKED (lol)...there is a sense of familial pride you feel towards the team either achieving their goals or sometimes just improving that loyal fans enjoy...the "WE" in this sense means the team itself AND all of the faithful fans...

SO go ahead and root for your team BUT REMEMBER the line is definitely there...

  26. Y would that bother you or anybody what do you care. Some people care and feel apart of the team.  I wonder if the idiot lakers would play any different if there stadium was empty. If the person wants to we are going to trade someone shut Ur mouth and deal wit it. It people like you WHO ruin things
