In Ohio it takes like four weeks to get your unemployment check but I was wondering will that first check be for the four weeks or will it just be for the week they issue it and no back pay? Thanks to anyone that answers.

  1. you get back pay

  2. You should get paid back to the time you applied, minus one "waiting week".  The pay doesn't start until you have actually been laid off or terminated AND you have applied.  If you get severance, that will affect your start date for unemployment.

  3. The check will be issued from the start date of your claim through the current week, less the one week waiting period which is unpaid. You will not be paid for the first 7 days after you have filed a claim for benefits.

  4. Im not sure about in Ohio. sorry but in WI you get back pay.
