It really depends on which package you have bought from your cell phone service provider.  You need to ask your service provider that question, as you don't want to be stuck with an unexpected bill at the end of the month.

My cellphone plan charges the same for Canadian and American text messaging.

I am thinking it might depend on your plan or the cellphone company you are using.

That depends on your cell phone service. My cell is a Virgin Mobile, and I believe there is a few cents more per text charged.

I'm with Telus and all text messages past the ones in my plan are 15cents each.  Doesn't matter where I send to.

With Telus its the same price anywhere in north america.  I have unlimited texting and I don't get charged extra from Canada to US.
