  1. As with the other posters, I can state that Italians/Sicilians look down on people who drink to get drunk. It's just not done, and the police have little patience with visitors who do this.

  2. I've lived in Italy for 5 years and this isnt a problem in Sicily. Italian culture is VERY different than in GB and alcohol is viewd completely differently.

Italians dont drink to get drunk, its only for meals and socializing.

The larger cities like Milan and Rome you'll see some tourists drunk at the areas where there are nightclubs, but Sicily is much more calmer and family oriented.

Sicilians are very hospitable and their into food and family and culture.

  3. my advise don't do it.. i live in southern italy..not sicily but campania.. and the culture here is not a drink-to-get drunk but an eating culture..if you want to enjoy sumptuos meals with good wine feel free.. but drunken antics are seen as unsociable and will not be tolerated by locals or carabinieri

  4. Hi I'm Italian not from sicily but I was born in the south before moving to the north then eventualy in wales, yes sicilian culture is extremely different from the rest of the Italians sub-cultures but sicilians can be extremely friendly...you might ee two men walking the streets arm in arm nothing to do with g*y lifestyle is simple friendship. If you do get drunk and disorderly you would get the same treatment as you would get in the uk...only one thing the police is not as polite as the british police, that means that if the person getting arrested tells the police officer to F.O it would be highly likely to get a beating. but if you want you can get drunk no one will stop you...a little advice try the local wines and tell them how nice they are...and chances are you'll find someone to get drunk with you simply cos your valuating he local product. Ciao have a nice holiday
