Tomorrow my Godson leaves for college. On one hand I'm so happy for him & proud of him. On the other hand I'm sad & disappointed. He used to go to many places with me most notably to Yankee Stadium for the baseball games.. Now those days will be gone & for that reason I'm sad. But I'm very proud of him &wish him nothing but the best. Have you ever felt the same way when someone in your family leaves?

  4. A little of both.. I understand how you feel, but try to focus on the good things.

Best of luck to your Godson!! :)

  5. not like he isnt coming back.... you will be at the ball games again. and when i go into the army i dont want anyone to be sad over me. i want them to be happy that i am doing something that will make a difference

  6. Not yet, my older sister is moving out in deceber though. I'm going to be sad when she does thouth.

  7. You're a really good person for enjoying the joys of  godparents ( my nephew is my godson, but I sometimes have a rocky relationship with his mother. Long story)

It makes sense you feel that way; I would to if I was in your shoes.

I remember being only 9 and my sibling going off to the military. I somehow had awareness of the hazzards, and objected. But now that I think back, epecially when he was so near the war zone, I don't feel bad anymore that he went, even though I never agreed with any forms of violence. He risked his life for the country, and that is something to be proud of. We hate the anticipation of losing our loved on with that, but if no one volunteered to go, then it would go back to drafts!

  8. In 2002, my son went off to college.

    He finished in 2006.

    He got married last week.

I have cried a bucket of tears...not out of sadness, but out of joy!

My son will always be my baby, but now he is a law-abiding, tax-paying, African-American citizen...and, he's finally moved off of my payroll (smile)...and, darn it...I'm welling-up all over again!

    I feel you.

Turning a page in life can be a bittersweet experience: joy and pain.

Letting our children go off into the world is hard and we do cry!

What we are experiencing is the order of life...and...life carries on.

Your godson will be OK and you'll be OK.

If you are a praying person, cover your godson with your most sincere prayers and let God do the rest...'cause HE is able!

    Hallelujah!

  9. yes...my boyfriend is in the navy...and he went to basic training for 9 weeks...im happy for him...but i miss him like crazy...he get finished with basic in 2 weeks...and ill be able to see him for like 1-2 days after he graduates...but then he has to go to school for his job for 12 weeks...and it sucks because i only get to talk to him thru letters and have talked to him once on the phone...but you just gotta remember that when they're done you be able to see them again...

  10. Love will guide your way!

  11. Of course, I remember when we used to live in Colorado and we'd come out to Ohio every year to visit, but when we'd leave every single one of us in the family was crying even though we knew we'd see each other again, kind of a different story but same thing. It happens, it normal to feel sad about these kind of things, I know when I move to go off to the new college my family is gonna be sad!

  12. yea i get really sad when my brother goes to college
