  1. I wouldn't say you get hurt a lot, although many gymnasts have injured ankles/legs. Thier have been deadly incidents, but that's in all sports, but I heard its safer than cheerleading.

  2. it depends really

if you mess up a skill you could get hurt

if you arnt capable of a skill and try it you might get hurt

If you arnt tight and let go you will most likely get hurt

If your in the wrong postion you might get hurt

  3. No, today i was doing an airiel (no handed cartwheel) and it hurt my hiop cuz i landed funny, but so far THIS year that is the worst injury. I mosly get sore. I worked out for 5 hours today, and boy, i cannot get up from this chair!!!

  4. both yes and no. i mean, you have got to be tough to do gymnastics, and once you arrive at the higher level you are 99% sure to get hurt. But, getting severly hurt is less common.  if you are just doing gymnastics as a hobby, and it is not so serious to you, getting hurt is less likely. The common things that happen every day at the gym are things like rips (basically getting a blister from the bar and it pops. then your coach tears it off. you would think it hurts but it reaally doesnt) bruises, scraps, sprains, stuff like that. however, you are expected to work through that. gymnastics is probably the hardest sport in the world. the coaches in gymnastics are trained very well, so your not going to die. haha but the truth is you are going to get hurt.

in gymnastics yes you have to be flexible--- but that is not all you have to be. you have to be strong, fit, tough (both physically and emotionally)  and sooo much more. flexibility is important but that is so not all that gymnasts are.

i hope that answered your question ;)

  5. no you dont you have to be flexible though
