Question:

Do you get in a lot of trouble if you play music too loud in the car?

This is my sound system layout::

Sony XPLOD head unit

Kicker VS12V5 subwoofer [[600 watt RMS, 1200 watt peak]]

Kicker zx750.1 amplifier

4X Polk Audio db651 6.5" coaxial speakers

As you can imagine, it can go pretty d**n loud.

I live in NC, and I was wondering if you can get in trouble with the police if you play music too loud. I've heard of Disturbing the Peace, but is that just in residential areas?

Can the police pull you over for playing it too loudly? Also, what are the consequences [[fines, etc.]]?

Any help is much appreciated :)

  1. yea some cops might get on to you because it is disturbing the piece lol

  2. disturbing the peace could  mean at any time, anywhere (it does not matter what time day or night it is...if someone or someones feelyou are disturbing their they an option to call the Police...the Police will speak with you and the caller (they have to give details before the Police will come) and they will decide if there is cause to file a complaint...

  3. As long as you don't thump the subs, you're ok.

  4. yeah you can definitely get arrested, I'm surprised you haven't been already.

  5. In some communities but that's only if you pull over. In Hollywood CA I just punch it. I've been in 14 police chases and never been caught

  6. You should worry more about disturbing other people.  Just because you spent all that money on your system doesn't give you a good enough reason to force others to listen to it.

  7. just don't play it loud! i HATE it when people do. you probably would get pulled over, but i'm not sure about the consequences.

  8. Well, if you can't hear the siren and they run you off the road, that might be a problem.

  9. it depends on the circumstance.  if you are in traffic- i wouldn't worry, but in a heavily populated area, yeah;  you will get nailed!

$310  up here in Wisconsin Dells

  10. in illinois where i live ive never gotten pulled over even tho im cranking out over 140+db. but a guy i work with has gotten pulled over on the interstate before for " excessive noise"  here its just a 75$ fine and doesnt go on your record

  11. Just a ticket like 30 bucks or often just a warning.

    and its called ''noise/sound pollution''.

  12. no they cannot pull yo uover my dad always plays it to loude all the time

  13. Yes

  14. yes, the police can pull you over and ticket you.

It's not just disturbing the peace. depending on the mood of the cop, he can cite you for all kinds of stuff. With music that loud, you can't hear an ambulance coming and move out of the way, so there are fines for that. What if you don't get out of a cop's way as he's in pursuit, cause you don't hear him come up behind you?

The cost depends on the area, time of day, what you're cited for, etc. But it can be anything from noise to unsafe motoring to obstruction of justice to negligence.

  15. first b careful of damaging ur ears.

second if u can't here a siren u will get in trouble.

  16. I Don't Think You Could Get In Trouble. Honestly How Loud Are Ya Gunna Put Dat Puppy. It Is Dangerous 2 Have Yer Music Cranked Up All Da Way. Believe Me. Ma Sis And I Got In A Accident Because She Was 2 Concetrated On Da Music And Not On Driving.... And Guess What.. I Wasn't Hurt But She Was... Badly... Shes Unfortenly Paralyzed From The Waist Down. So If I Were You... Don't Put It 2 Loud.

  17. >>>>>>Yes you can be pulled over and ticketed and fined. It is a violation of the noise ordnance many counties have. i googled noise ordnance for your state and a great many counties in NC have them. Look up your county to find the exact laws and penalties!

    Good Luck!

  18. pretty a lot of trouble if the music distracts u and u crash into something.... keep it reasonable babes.

  19. Yes, You can get a ticket/fine. It really stupid for during the day I think. Maybe at night I could understand. Kickers are great btw.
