Do you get it?

You say too late

I do not think it could ever be

until you give into that thought.

When it comes creeping in

show it that it is not welcome.

Allow us in so we may hide

all your pain in gentle laughter.

Sooth the darkness into joy.

Never say that it is too late

For then….

it will be.

Short but to he point I hope… This comes from recent talks with close friends… What are your thoughts?

Blessed Be, Siren

  1. I say anything that stirs the emotions is "Poetry" and this, by that definition, is stirring and thought provoking.  Doesn't matter that it's short. It was worth the read.

    Write On!!!!

  2. In my last critique I took issue with the idea of seeing oneself as a victim. You seem to have come around to that opinion here. As the ancient Chinese proverb says, "It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness...and it is even better to pay the electric bill."

  3. I love this evocative little poem.  There is a powerful message in the last three lines about never giving up hope, never saying "it is too late". The dark side of the message is that if you believe the thought and give up, the result will be continued pain and loneliness. "Soothe the darkness into joy" is a lovely line. Thank you.
