Do you get more money in food stamps if your a dependent or by yourself?

I'm in college and I'm wondering if I should file myself or as my mothers dependent

  1. If you file as your mother's dependent they will consider her income! Go on by yourself if you make less money...


  2. Do you live with your mother? If not, then you have to get your own case you can't live somewhere else and get food stamps on her case. They will not count her income if she doesn't live with you. If you live with her and are under age 22 then you have to apply with her because you are under the age requirement. It doesn't matter which way you will get more you first have to look at the other laws pertaining to this.

  3. file by yourself. You will have to list her on the app. but tell you that you are buying and preparing food seperate from her (it will ask you ) and there will be no probs.
