Do you get paid for an apprenticeship? [funeral home]

I might be taking up an apprenticeship at a funeral home for about 6 months before I go to mortuary school to see if it's the right job for me. I'll need to be working part time out of school to support myself. Would I just come in on my days off, or would they pay me? I'd feel weird asking them to if it's a hit and miss with some employers.
