  1. If the bus driver is really nice, I would get a gift.  If the bus driver isn't so nice, then I wouldn't get a gift for them.  I know this one bus driver I would never give them a gift because it always seemed like she was trying to get us into an accident.

  2. I actually think people like the bus drivers ought to get gifts before the teachers do.  They're the unsung heroes of the school.  Definitely get a gift, even it's just a thank you note. :)

  3. He gets paid already surely?. Sorry we don't have these in the UK and I imagine some would be a little embarrassed by gifts.

Having said all the above, if he is a fun, lovely driver to the children, maybe something like a bottle of beer all decorated with bows and strings (you hand it to him obviously).

  4. i gave my kids driver a tin of candy for christmas and a $5 gift card to starbucks at the end of the year as a thank you. Hey the guy does get my children to and from school safely, he's worth at least that much!

  5. Hahah I used to buy my bus driver a gift (well my mum bought it) Chocolate covered sultanas or peanuts haha. Every year when I was little.

Bus drivers do a great job for the community and have to put up with a heck of a lotta c**p. I think thats a really sweet idea.

Who knows he/she could be lonely or having a bad day and that would make their day, week or even year.

  6. I think that would be great, we always do.  They too spend a lot of time with the kids.  Have your daughter make him/her a card and a small gift card would be great!

  7. my mom always gave me a gift, like a box of cookies or something.

like when i was in elementary school.

not anything later, youd imbarrass the kidd.

  8. My Mom always made cookies for the bus driver twice a year (once at Christmas and once at the end of the year).  With weight problems being what they are today, that may not be the wisest choice, but it is sure nice that you think of the bus driver! I think a gift card would be an excellent choice!

  9. No.  The gift giving / tipping of everyone who provides us any kind of service whatsoever has gotten out of hand.  You pay your taxes, a part of which pays for the salary of public school bus drivers.  You've already thanked him by contributing to a society that allows him to have this career.  Unless you know this person socially, a gift should not be expected.  Enough is enough.
