Do you give money to Homeless?

I sometimes do....

The most ive ever given was a 20 and soon regretted it when i did'nt have enough for my train ticket.

another time I bought this young guy (about 16) a subway sandwich and a coke.

Once or twice a year.  Never $20.  He/she went and brought some beer or a bottle of wine.  

They make more money then I do because people give to them.

I use to give them an application for housing.  But for the most part they want to stay homeless.

I only offer things like food and water. Once a homeless woman was living out of her van in my neighborhood. I gave her a list of shelters and organizations that help homeless people get back on their feet. She had lost her job and her landlord kicked her and her dog out of the apartment. We saw her months later and she had found a job, got an apartment and still had her dog! She said the list of services I gave her helped her get back on her feet and she is no longer homeless. I did bring her a cooler with ice and water, plates of food, and dog food when she was living out of her van. She seemed like she wanted to help herself and she did! I don't ever give money though because it can be used for drugs and alcohol.

Yes,  once an old ww2 veteran asked for money for food, not alcohol he assured me.  I gave him $50 and told him to get some beer.  The poor old b@stard deserves to be treated a little better than that by our country....

Sometimes. NEVER a $20. A couple bucks or something. They need to learn to help themselves. You can't just quit the working life and decide to walk the earth. It does not work like that.

Where I live there isn't really homeless people, but if I ever saw one I for sure would give them money, I know I would want someone to give me money if I was homeless.

I've taken them to fast food joints for a meal but I don't give them money b/c I don't want them buying booze/drugs with it

No, I have never given them money, but I set someone up with a job.  I also bought someone else lunch, but I refuse to give them money because one time I tried buying someone lunch at Subway, and right as they were about to order, they turned right around with my money and left...so now I wait for them to order and buy it myself.

Depends not big into providing chump change for drugs or alchol ...but if real need is there i have taken person to hostel talked them into taking them in and left 20 with welfare worker [Salvation Army] to give them for food.

I do once in a while, only a dollar to two though. I've never regretted it.

I did once he just wanted me to make him a sandwich but i had closed my kitchen. I gave $ 5.00 so he could get a sandwich at the 7 but for the most part i do not. I don't no regret that time. But I have learned how to say no. If they really need help. I have plenty of work that i can't handle and I have come to the conclusion. Help those who will help them self's. Vets and elderly are a different story. so be wise. I have learned that people ask if you have any spare change. I get in my pocket I say sorry i only have personal Change. that may be cruel but life is what we make of so best to all of those out. you have homeless and then you have drug users.

we have this guy that walk though the parking lot asking for spare change for gas. do you think it is for gas no. for my buddy. was willing to fill is gas can & the guy said no.

Your a very nice person for what you have done.

I give to the homeless shelter, and I have given food to a homeless person before and I even got a hotel room for a homeless family so they could have a hot shower and nice bed.. They were victums of Hurricane Katrina and had been homeless for several weeks. I don't normally give money to street people only because they will just drink it away.
