I mean besides fast food. I have a two year old and I was thinking of taking her to Souplantation (also known as Sweet Tomatoes) but I've never done it without my hubby.

  1. I've seen plenty of mothers take their toddlers out to eat. Of course...many of them have to multi-task lol But that's one of the perks of being a mother.

  2. It is a great idea to do this for experience for the child.  The more often she gets to be in public and learn how things work, the better behaved she will be in the future  :)  Good for you Mom!

  3. Depends on how antsy a terrible two year old is.  I did this with my son one time and went to a sit down chinese restaurant (not buffet style) and it was the most disruptive meal I ever had. He was up and running around and I ended up taking my meal to go after all. I guess you know your child best, but mine had a lot of energy that day.

  4. Yeah... there is no reason that you can't go out to eat with just your toddler.  I like to use it as special time for just me and the child.  Since I have two children, it can be hard to find time where you can do something alone with that child, so we often have one day a month where I take one child to do something special.  My kids love Souplantation because they can pick what they want, and this often allieviates any behavior problems in the restaurant.  Just be sure to explain the behavior you want, and the consequences of misbehavior before you even go in the door.  And- follow through with what you say.

  5. Sure, make it a special time for just you and your tot. I used to take my daughters out to eat without there dad and wecalled it girls night out.I as\lso take my grandchildren out to eat at resturants and we have granma and me time.they are 18months nad 3,4,and 5 years of age , i usually only take 2 at a time but used to take them each out alonewhen they were 12 monthss and over. It will be fun.

  6. my daughter and  I she is four now always  do this we have  a picnic at the park or go to the coffee shop and get a cocoa and a treat. I just asker her if she wanted to go to play with me last week, she decided she wasn't interseted, but point is yes I do. I love taking her out for little "dates with dad", concerts etc.

  7. Why not?

  8. Of course. It's your kid.

  9. Yes, I have done it.  I love going out with my daughters, they are 4.  If it is just me and them, it is usually for something special, even if it is just quality time together.

  10. I love going to dinner with each child.  Its special bonding time.  I try to do it once a month.  Daddy does it too of course.

  11. Yes. I don't see anything wrong with it. Toddlers are so sweet.

  12. 2 is a tough age to take out to eat ( anywhere but fast food) they do not have the patients to sit for that long.  I took an "out to eat bag" just a bag of quit toys and crayons and the like to keep my daughter occupied during the boring times..like waiting to order and waiting for food to come.  A lot of work but well worth it...We enjoyed time  our selves and was not stressful for me or Olivia.  this worked for me...maybe will 4 u too

  13. Sure you should.  My mommy used to take me out to dinner all the time when I was little, even when my dad was at work.  She takes my younger brother out too.  The both of us were quite a nuisance, but hey!  She said she still loved the dinner and watching her little cutie-pies eat, (even if we caused a mess.)

  14. why wouldn't you? my brother used to take his daughter out to a local chinese resturant so much, they knew them by name, LOL

  15. I do. I have a son who will be 2 next month. Sometimes we'll go out to eat by ourselves when Daddy is at work. I bring crayons to keep us busy.

Usually we just go to a diner or small family friendly restaurant.

  16. Yes i did it when i just had a newborn! ( and i was married ) its great bonding time and you get to talk to JUST her/him makes them feel special!

  17. go for it! I haven't gone out to eat with my 2 year old son without my husband, but if the opportunity was there, and I wanted to, I'd go for it. Why not?

  18. I take my 18 month old daughter out to lunch by ourselves frequently.  We have mommy and daughter shopping lunches!!
