  1. If your ISP gives you a static IP then you won't be able to change your IP address. But if you have a "Dynamic" IP then you can change it.

To change it: Go on the computer that is directly connected to your modem (must be directly connected, and not through a router)

    Open the command prompt.

1)Type in "ipconfig" then enter and write down your ip address

2)Type in "iprelease" then enter to release your IP

3)Type in "iprenew" then enter to renew your IP

4)Type in "ipconfig" again to see that your IP has changed.

If it had not changed, try this:

Unplug your modem for about 20 minutes and plug it back it, it should change, check the IP before and after.

If it does not change again then you must have a static IP

  2. Your ip address is usually given to you by your isp; you don't change it and still have internet access.

Are you using a router?  Do you want to change the addresses on your LAN?

Please consider reposting with more information about your issue.

  3. If you're using Windows XP (not sure if this works in other versions of windows), go to control panel and click on network connections.  Double-click on the connection you want to change (probably Local Area connection), and a status box should appear.  Click on properties, and then double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).   There should be a button that says: Use the following IP address, which will allow you to enter your IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway manually.
