I do hissing sound when jabbing or hooking but when I get into a toe to toe exchange I either yell, grunt, scream or shout out bam.

  1. The release of air or "yell" actually started with martial arts..

Its proven to add significant power and speed to a strike..not doin this causes a "braking effect", pro boxers mainly use it when they are throwin haymakers...

  2. I let out a kinda ssss sound when throwing a punch.

  3. Stop that, you're turning me on...

  4. Yup. Never when hitting the heavy bag, but in a sparring session when it gets going.  I don't even think about it.

  5. Some boxers especially DeLaHoya make grunting noises when they punch, that's a trait they pick up as an amateur and some never lose it.

Its basically letting out air the air after you throw a punch, Mentally as well it seems to help some fighters when hitting the heavybag. Its a just a breathing technique your taught early on and some never abandoned it. It really doesn't add anything to your game except maybe mentally.

  6. no. it is important to let out air when you punch hard or get hit hard and doing that makes a sound. maybe for some people that sound is like a grunt or a yell

  7. Um i doubt it really matters it could be an advantage because it might psyche out your opponent but they could also think your a wuss ebcause you sound like your using alot of effort in your punches...i would use it like half the time
