  1. No gifted education isnt elitism. If they arent helped they wont excel.  Its not their fault that they have high IQ's or are talented in something. its like an excellent pianist, not their fault they can play by ear, they will get extra tutorng and stuff for being able to play the piano.

  2. no, it is not elitism- have you ever tried to take a class or sit through a training that was way below your intelligence level- it is nearly impossible to pay attention, and stay possitive about- imagine doing that everyday of your school life- then have people ask what made you decide not to finish highschool- and try to explain that it was too boring to finish- some people just learn remarkably faster than others, and they generally do not get their needs met by public schools or even within class settings- they learn at a different pace than everyone else around them and need to keep a steady stream of new information

  3. Not really. A promising student should be encouraged more because boredom breeds laziness.

  4. I don't think guys would care.

  5. Is support a child to succeed elitism?

Did you know that a huge portion (some say as many as 30%) of girls labeled "gifted" by the third grade struggle even drop out of high school?

Because they haven't had to struggle to make a grade, they may not know how to study.  Gifted programs challenge children who would otherwise expend little effort in classes where they can "pass the test" without studying. They encourage strong study and work habits.

It is not uncommon for some children to "dumb down" in a traditional classroom because there is so much pressure to fit in with their peers. Gifted education programs give these children a chance to feel "normal,"  and learn to their potential.

In the end isn't that the best thing for all of us?
