I went to see Mirrors with my friend. It was a perfectly enjoyable movie that engaged the entire audience right to the end. When I asked my friend if he liked it, he said no. That was a load of bull. Whenever he sees a movie that's totally boring garbage, like Smart People, There Will Be Blood or Children of Men, he LOVES it. Now, I like smart, intellectual movies that win Oscar awards too, but how can he like excruciating movies that have dull, nonsensical plotlines or outright awful flow because some critics said it was good?
I believe many film snobs are insecure about rating movies because they feel major film critics and the Oscars set the standard. The truth is, many of them are biased towards certain movies for political reasons. My friend is a Republican but he's too stupid to figure out some movies get a pass by critics for their leftist leanings.
I hate insecure people who always look over other people's shoulders.
