Do you hate people who think they've got it all figured out?

I got lectured by a 20 year old girl who doesn't even have a college degree on how to find a good job. I work as a shift manager at a fast casual place in MICHIGAN, home of some of the country's worst economies. I have a college degree from U of M. I run into all sorts of idiots who think a U of M degree is a golden ticket to a great job. Usually they don't have college degrees or jobs! They usually ask me if I'm doing anything to find a job, which is an insulting affront to me.

My standard answer to these people is: "If it's so easy, why haven't you done it?"

The problem with America is that people believe they're entitled to a good life without working for it. I have to deal with so many kids who think "degree=six-figure, easy living". It's so hard to tell them the truth because they think you're some loser that just didn't try hard.

Part of the reason America is having so much trouble are all the self-righteous, entitled brats, I guess.

  1. Blame their parents, not them.

It's the parents that drill into our heads, better education equals better jobs and more opportunity, which in this current economic situation, is definitely not always the case.

  2. I don't hate them, I pity them. All of us end up taking a degree from the school of hard knocks-they aren't even aware they're enrolled and I've already graduated!

  3. Just ignore them. Later they will regret it when THEY are the ones looking desperately for a job. THEN you can laugh in their faces.

  4. "If it's so easy, why haven't you done it?" or as I like to put it, "If you're so smart, why ain't you rich?"

The 1st amendment gives everybody the right to speak, but I'd appreciate it if they exercised their right to think as well.

  5. yea a lot of people these days think their way is right and there is no other way.  Oh well what can you do besides doing your own thing?

  6. That'd get under my skin, too.

However, I've learned enough from my own surprises in life, that I feel, oh what, pity? Sorry for them? They haven't had quite enough pummeling from the School of Hard Knocks to appreciate that each of us is where we are for a variety of reasons, and if one wants to be helpful to someone else, it requires really knowing what the other person's needs are.

Seldom is anything as simple as it appears.

In response to some condescending twit, I'd have to say, "there's a reason why I'm here right now, but you don't need to be troubled with knowing it." And I'd give them a satisfied, knowing kind of grin.

    Retards.

  7. I used to be one of those poeple.  I noticed I was putting poeple off with my speeches and I sounded like a PBS documentary.  I took some time to look in the mirror.  I realized I was doing it because I had few friends, bad social skills, I was insecure and needed human attention.  I was really annoying.  I was trying to gain poeple's approval and replace a lack of social skills with showing off knowledge.  Just try and tell those poeple how they could've summed up their long speech in 5 words.  They will appreciate the friendly help.  .....sorry this is so long (lol)

  8. just ignore them. first of all, its none of their business anyways and they're being rude by commenting on something they should be sticking their noses in.

but you still should think from their perspective. people can be judgmental.. they dont know what its like yet. seeing you as a person with a degree w/o a "decent" job, of course they'll be led to think ur some lazy person who wont find a job. of course ur having some trouble findign a good job. but those people dont knwo that . they just assume...... and u know what they say about assumptions. the only thing u can blame them for is being rude.
