  1. Amtrak's  Coast Starlight runs daily from Seattle to Los Angeles, with Bay Area stops in Emeryville, Oakland and San Jose.

You can take an Amtrak Thruway bus from 4 locations in San Francisco to Emeryville.   Or you can take Caltrain (~ hourly) from SF to the San Jose station on Cahill St and transfer across the platform to the Starlight.

According to Amtrak's schedule, the Starlight is supposed to arrive in Emeryville at 8:10 am, and San Jose at 9:55 am.  However, the train has been running 6+ hours behind schedule this year, due to track maintenance and freight train operations.

Have a nice trip.  The trip and view along the coast from Vandenberg AFB to Ventura is without equal.
