Question:

Do you have a baby item that keeps disappearing?

With my first baby, it was pacifiers. I swear, I would buy 10 of them, and by the end of the day, he'd have one. This would happen without even leaving the house! When he was 1, we moved, and I figured I would find dozens of pacifiers as I packed. Nope. A few, but certainly nowhere near the hundred that had vanished.

Now, it's socks. We started out with near 30 pairs of baby socks. Now he has three pairs, not matched. Weirdest thing is, it's summer, and he hardly ever wears socks! But when I need a pair, POOF! They've all vanished.

Bibs- same thing. Had a buttload of them; now I'm lucky to find one.

We also have a toy leopard that vanishes mysteriously, and reappearing in odd spots the baby couldn't possibly have put it in, but I suspect his big brother has something to do with that.

So, what is your disappearing baby item?

  1. Jeppers, I thought we were the only one with disappearing items. For my son its pacifiers, socks, toys, and his mum mum crackers. I swear I'll give him one and then two seconds later its gone. (he doesn't eat them THAT fast) I'll look everywhere for it and it just disappears.

  2. spoons and bowls... but they always seem to turn up right before i loose it and walk out the door to buy more of them.

and toys, i find them under my bed, under my desk, bath toys in his room, all over the place... i think that has to do with the puppy and my nieces (4 & 7)

  3. Yes!! Bibs & TOYS!!

I'm starting to think they grow legs & run from my son, he smacks them against whatever is near him so they are probably tired of it, hehe

They get lost & then a few wks later i find them & they dissaper again!

    God Bless

  4. Nail clippers, I have at least three pair and can never find them when I need them.

  5. Socks and booties.  I used to religiously put them in a lingerie bag as I took them off but now I don't ;-)

    Nail clippers

    Diaper cream

And lately wipes.  They are always missing.

  6. Socks here too.  I swear the washing machine eats them.

Jatay... the ball popper was my oldest sons favorite toy and we were always loosing those balls too!

  7. until recently, it was shoes.

    check this out:

once, ruby kicked off a shoe as we made our way down the long street that connects us to downtown. oh well. it was, like, the 10th shoe i'd lost. whatever. the next day, i was walking with her on the same street, and someone had hung the shoe on a nail on a telephone pole! how awesome is that? we live in a very crunchy city, where people are very responsible -- too responsible, i usually think. but i was pretty stoked that day.

when she still used pacis during the day, we lost a lot of those, too. now that she generally keeps her shoes on and the pacis are just for bedtime, the item that is most often lost around here is my mind.

  8. The pacifiers around here pull a disappearing act a lot, but the thing that disappears the most is the tube of Boudreaux's Butt Paste. My son like to chew on the tube and play with it so he is constantly moving it around. Yesterday I found it under the couch.

  9. SHOES!!!!!!!!

  10. remote controls for our tv and dvd player and, well, any other remote control.  :)

My daughter loves to play with them. Yesterday I found our dvd remote under the couch.

Also- Gabrielle has a little duck and a fish that light up (they are really bath toys) and she loves those things so much! but they are little so they get lost easily.

For me- socks arent bad because my daughter hates to wear them, and I am the kind of person who is almost always cold, so its pretty warm in our house, and I just let her go without them.

Our pacifiers kept disappearing too but one day my daughter decided she didnt like them anymore- solved that problem!! lol!

    Good question--  :)

  11. We have a cabinet above our dryer that has about 15 individual socks. I don't know what happened to their match, but that's where they get stashed until the missing one turns up. Which is pretty much never.

The baby wipes also go missing quite a bit. They are supposed to be on the shelf by the changing table, but they frequently disappear. Of course, I usually don't realize they are missing until I am elbow-deep in a really gross diaper!

And one more thing.....baby blankets. Now that the baby is older, and it is 150 degrees outside, it really isn't much of an issue. But when the baby was younger, I was constantly looking for particular blankets that I preferred.

  12. For me it is pacifiers & socks.I promise I can't ever find either.I just don't know where they go.If it is this bad now & he can't even crawl,I hate to see how I am going to keep up with anything when he is mobile :)

  13. the nipples on a bottle. its like i washed both the bottle and the nipple where the does nipple go to..and also his socks and his pacifier when he was an infant.

  14. pacifiers, bottles, bibs, and my sons toys.

  15. I have quite the opposite. Reappearing baby items. In the crib, in the car, in his toy box, in the diaper bag...The other day I was doing dishes and noticed that I only had 3 bottles left. I used to have like 15 or so. They just mysteriously disappeared. Well I would notice that I would find one stuffed away in the toy box or something off the wall like that. Same with his toys, I would drop him off at his Nannies and notice that some of his home toys are sitting there in the floor at her house. I guess he just had it in his hands when I carry him out the door (I'm ALWAYS late and in a hurry) and I guess I just don't notice. LOL I think he stuffed it in the diaper bad on purpose just to mess with my head or to have it to play with over there. LOL

  16. it's socks for me too.

  17. Pacifiers and socks.

  18. Socks and my babys nail clippers.

  19. my daughters clothes dissapear in the dryer!! lol wheere do they go?? cause this is getting expencive buying new clothes

  20. balls, constantly.  She got one of those ball popper toys for her birthday, I try to go through her toys after she goes to bed everynight and put them away, but for some reason those keep disappearing, we started with 5, now we have 1!  She also got this counting pig piggy bank that started with 10 coins, I think the total count after last night's clean up was 6, so we're not doing too bad I guess :)

When it was colder we did lose socks all the time too though!

    *******

Nina - I think it's partly to blame on the design :)  The balls shoot out of the ball popper with such force that they end up all over the place.  Then my daughter finds that it is more fun to shove all kinds of c**p down the ball shoot, any and everything EXCEPT the balls that are actually supposed to go down there! lol

Spence's Mommy - I forgot about the bowls and spoons!  We bought two sets of 4 bowls and two sets of 5 spoons, they have continually dwindled down and it's about time to buy some more - where do they go??? :)
