My cat Willie is 15 months old and weighs 15 pounds. He's not fat at all and I'm wondering when he will stop growing? If you have a really big cat, what age did he/she reach top size? This is Willie:

  1. looks like my cat Snuffy, he will get pretty big , mine is 20 lbs. and 26 inches long.

  2. is he a maine-coon?

they usually get pretty big, but he looks like hes almost fully grown.

    hes so cute!

  3. My, you do have a big Willie don't you!

  4. I have a pound kitty too and he was 18 pounds when I got him.  His best weight is around 15 pounds - he is a big boy all the way around.  I couldn't tell you when he reached full size since he came from a pound at age 5, but most cats are close to full size around one year.  A few grow a bit more, but not much.

Mine is not MC but my mother-in-law's is, and he is about the same size - 15-17 lbs.

  5. He may simply grow to be huge. If he has any Maine Coon or other large breed blood, he may grow to be upwards of twenty pounds.

  6. Your breeder friend is on the mark: your cat is mostly if not all Maine Coon. A male takes five years to sexually mature; if allowed to mature and not be altered, he can reach a weight of 30 pounds.

Your cat also has the head shape of a Norwegian Forest Cat, also a very large and friendly breed. This cat will mature at about four years and can weigh between 20 and 35 pounds.

  7. Yes, I have Louie the Large.  He maxed out on weight at about 18 months before he started getting fat.  He's just a little fat now weighing in at almost 17 pounds.  He's taller than the rest and longer than the rest and has a big head filled with nothing, unlike the rest.  He's laying on my computer desk right now.  Louie started to get his fat pouch at 10 months, so I took him off kitten food. He is still pretty active, but without Leopold, he wouldn't be active at all and very fat.  In the picture, it seems Willie does have a bit of a fat pouch. He shouldn't have that, but it's hard to prevent a cat from getting that in my experience.  Leopold even has that a tiny bit and he's SKINNY.

Willie may have some Maine Coone in him which makes for a much larger cat than most are used to.  He could grow even more.  It's vital to keep his engery level up and food intake to just above minimum.  You don't want to deprive him, but he doesn't need a lot of food either.

Ferra is a short, compact cat with lots of love.

    Willie is beautiful!

  8. He is so handsome! I am being repetitive I know, but Maine Coone's get fairly big. My cat is a farm cat mutt (he was also the runt), and he is so big that people are sometimes afraid of him! lol! He stopped growing (except his belly) when he was around two years old.

Here is my itty bitty kitty, Dusk. lol! The pic doesn't do him justice. Trust me. He is huge.

  9. Umm my guess would be about three or four years old because that's when they mature so good luck with your oversize kitty!

  10. My cat Chester is also 15 months and weighs 15 lbs..he has part Ocelot in him(wild cat) which makes him so big i guess!  But he is one chunky cat!

  11. Willie looks like a Maine Coon, and they can get to be 20 pounds or so at full size.  Beautiful, fabulous animal you've got there.
