Do you have a strategy for playing board games?

I know board games are supposed to be just for fun, but some people *including good ole ScrabbleGirl* take then kind of seriously. Well, just Scrabble lol. I have a strategy, (I play defensively and constantly block the good spots so that the other player/players cannot get the extra points, sometimes even if it meansI will score lower. I win about 75% ofthe games I play so I think my strategy works real well LOL. Anyone else have a strategy or do you just play for the fun of it/

It depends on the game.......example if it is chess you need strategy,but if the game is snakes & ladder...it is in chance....you need your luck....

I like to go on the offense when playing games - seems to intimidate others into mistakes.  Part of that is being defensive minded as well.  I certainly don't want folks 'cherry-pickin' points from my set-ups.

We don't have any good Scrabble players in our house, so it's easy for me to win, because my vocabulary is better than everybody else's.  I play a more aggressive game, so I'm leading by 150 points, (mostly because of 7 letter words), by the end of the game.   Everybody has sort of given up, (I'm a horrible winner, too much celebrating), so I don't have anybody to play with unfortunately.

My strategy is basically searching for words in my spare time that nobody has ever heard of....boy...how they hate to go searching for my words in the dictionary....and if they only knew the rule for challenging words, then they would be doubly depressed....(but we have our house rules).

Have you ever played 'Super Scrabble'?  I didn't think that I'd like it, but it's a very exciting game!  The game board is larger, and there are more letters, so the board doesn't get as crowded.

well in monopoly i buy all the property i can, even if i have little money, cuz it doesn't do you any good to have a lot of money if you don't have any property, right? this always works for me. even if i did wait people would probably steal the good properties, after i passed it up.

I do like to win, even if we are just playing for fun. I do that with scrabble too. And I have little strategies for some other games I play too.
