people like him are beyond our reach! we like them because they work on a universal level... it also shows us that we are too obsessed about our little selves and often dramatize and misjudge situations.

No offence, but Steven Hawking, one of the most brilliant men in the last century, is NOT a savant. Before his body began shutting down, he was highly focused in his research, but also an active social person.

A savant is an exceptionally stupid person (approximate moron IQ or lower) who is almost to the point of being incapable of taking care of themselves, but can do one thing exceptionally well.

Before Lou Gehrig's disease crippled him, he was perfectly able to take care of himself and operate normally in society... neither of which a Savant generally can do.

My opinion of him? With Carl Sagan, the two of them have revolutionised the current world view of those in the scientific community in Physics and Cosmology.

Incidentally...why is this in the Geneolgy form? Are you claiming him as a family member?
