i'm finding it very hard to stick with lessons because no matter how much i practice, i always seem to look too awkward/stiff/unnatural. is this normal for all beginners, or does it mean i'm hopeless? did you have this problem when you first started? how did you overcome it? thanks!!

  1. Haha I hated hip hop dance when I first started (I felt so lame), now I choreograph for a company. Anywho, keep going to class, and one of the most important things is to vibe off of the other dancers. Once you start feeling the music/moves, you might have a less awkward experience. Its going to take time, but just keep learning and also watch other people on tv, youtube, and in person if you can. Try out things in your room so you don't feel judged.

Hip hop is a communicative, socially positive and entertaining form of dance with a lot of energy, something well worth taking up. Enjoy!

  2. dont think about it

all it is really is attitude

    and fast movement

  3. hip-hop is over rated. get a real job and actually benifit the world

  4. its always hard when u r a beginner at anything.

but i'm telling you all your practice will help out a lot even though it may not seem like it now. and no you're not hopeless! to overcome is to keep practicing... the more you do it and commitment you have will make you not feel/look awkward. make sure to have fun with it also and not worry bout what others are thinking

    hope this helps

  5. just loosen up and have fun, dont think about the moves too much.

it's kinda like spazing out with a bunch of other people, trust me you'll think you look stupid but you'll look fine if you relax.
