Yeah, people around here have self esteem issues. They apparently feel better about themselves by giving other people thumbs down on a question about baseball players autographs.

  2. I have two autographed baseballs- one is Hank Aaron (a gift from my brother's girlfriend at the time who had the pleasure of meeting him) and the other is Carlton Fisk.

  3. Jamie Moyer signed my Phillies hat

  4. I have an autographed Rod Beck baseball glove from when he was a closer for the Cubs.  The day I went, it was Family Day and the families attending got to go down onto the field and meet the players.  I met Sammy Sosa and Mark Grace, but was only able to get Beck's autograph as well.

  5. To be honest, I just never got that autograph thing.  Is it suppose to be proof that you actually met the guy?  Something like that?

  8. I am the proud owner of a personally signed, just for me, Mickey Mantle. My pride of the Yankees. I can still remember that day, 12 years old, and here is this larger than life baseball legend standing in front of me. I can still remember his smile.

My significant other owns a Don Mattingly baseball (which was a Christmas gift to him from me) and various other John Hancocks of Yankee players

edit: I just don't get the thumbs down thing either.

  10. I don't, but my uncle has a home run ball that he got signed by an allstar after he caught it. I don't remember who the player was but he played in the 1985 allstar game.

I would love to get an autograph from Mike Soscia though. I played catcher so I looked up to him.

  21. When I was younger -- pre-kids, mainly -- I could spare the time to get to the ballpark early (or for that matter, simply get to the ballpark). Got a bunch of auto'd cards, both major leaguers and top prospects (well, once upon a time they were). I don't have many besides cards -- getting scraps of paper or yearbooks or scorecards signed was never my thing.

I do have two auto'd artifacts. One, a ball hit by Tim Naehring, the only major league foul I ever caught; had him sign it years later (it is about six inches away from my keyboard). The other, my glove -- spotted Spike Owen at a minor league game a few years ago (he was a coach) and suddenly got all fanboy -- a real member of the 1986 Red Sox!!! He gladly signed the back of the fingers. (I'd actually gotten Spike years earlier on a card, so it was spur-of-the-moment thing. How can one not love a player whose given name is Spike?)

  22. i have 4

    edwar ramirez

    phil hughes

    chipper jones

    ken grifey jr
