  1. I've purchase approximately 900 GPS units due to my business (http://www.slopetracker.com).

    The one thing I've learned is that you need to understand what you will be using the device for.  Answer that question and you should be able to find a device that meets your needs simply by comparing cost vs features.

    If you just want it for basic outdoor activities like hiking, you don't need all the bells and whistles.  

    I would, however, recommend splurging for a unit that contains a map of all the basic roads in your country.

    If you need to buy it new, I recommend www.wintronelectronics.com

    If you can make due with a used unit, ebay has some killer deals.
