Do you have any idea how spirits would know which people are psychic so they can communicate through them?

Do you think they see their auras....or that these people put out some kind of vibration that makes the spirits go to them and choose them? Or could it be that they just choose people who aren't doing anything else at the moment and their brains are on "idle"?

I think that spirits can recognise a psychic from the energy that they send out and due to them being open to communication from the spirit world.

Some people are born sensitive and are more tuned into the atmosphere and energy around them, but with practice and dedication everyone can open themselfes up to becoming more open to spiritual energy, this can be achieved by meditation and a willingness to learn to relax.

i think they try through most of us, which would explain some prophetic dreams etc. but then they find out that their "host" (ok i know it's not a host, but you know what i mean) isn't as perceptive as the spirit originally thought, so it moves on. this is all speculation on my part, of course, but then i assume it moves on to the next person until it finds a good medium.

my other theory on this is slightly based on the Seth books (hardly paranormal science, but worth reading.... interesting concepts. it involves the "oversoul" etc). we're all "spirits" before we're born, and we choose a world into which we want to be born... then i think there's always a string connecting you back to "the source" or "the oversoul" or "the other side" (whatever you want to call it) and your qualities can be sensed by something on the other side.... so if you're born with a paranormal ability, any part of the oversoul, i.e. a spirit, can sense that in your "string" and can follow it to it's owner, you, in the "real" world. lol i hope that makes some sort of sense. it makes sense in my crazy cranium.

ohh yes deenie i have "heard" of seth =D my aunt owns all the seth books and i read them. they're very interesting and so informative.... i think some college philosophy curriculum should include it.

I was at a John Edwards presentation where he explained it this way:

Everyone's spiritual and mental energies exists at different vibrational frequencies. When you pray or meditate you raise your frequency. When spirits wish to communicate with us, they have to lower their frequencies. When people have naturally higher frequencies or when they raise them through prayer or meditation, then it's easier for spirits to communicate with these people.

This explanation can also suggest why people who work with spiritual energy regularly may have more trouble with electrical equipment than other people do. John Edwards frequently has his microphones go out while he's speaking (as the audience saw at this presentation).

I believe EVERYONE is surrounded by this energy at all times, but it is only the highly sensitive person who can actually pick up on these things....and of course, once the person acknowledges  his/her ability to see/hear/feel things, certain doors are opened up for more to reach them.  So, in essence, yes...these energies do "pick" people who can be reached easily.

They know by the way you tune into the spiritual world, in that  they know that you're open. The way your spirit-soul feels when you pray. Believe it or not, prayers to God is a big way to tune in to good spirits. Although, your prayers  I believe are private to God, further more, God allows some spirits to hear, and may send them to answer, help, protect.

And when that spirit is sent, some at first don't realize just how sensitive you are. They pick up on your reactions when they come near, to see if you see, sense, hear. There is one spirit that I can basically call in more effectively when I pray, asking God to send her, sometimes she comes very quickly.

Also, I believe they are attracted to ones aura, especially when asleep. Some peoples auras are larger that others, full of compassion, and when asleep your large aura floats out of you some which gives off a light-glow that attracts other spirits-ghost. You see there's more than just one way.

For a spirit to communicate through a person, that person would have to be sensitive to the spirits energies, communicate and allow the spirit to do the work.

They don't have to choose, do they? I mean you channel surf to find out what's on...so do they. If you're broadcasting, they can tune in.

I really believe it is something in our aura/energy.

I do believe some spirits will try to get through loved ones here. They do not listen or are to afraid to open up to them.

For those of us who do communications, I truly believe it is our aura/energy, emitting a vibration from out 6Th sense, maybe it is a color, I'm sure.

I have given lectures on the topic of the 6th sense. Though some people who are in tune can shut it off for a bit, some spirits still come through, be it sense, smell, touch, sight etc.

I wish it was just brain on idle. This way I can choose to do a communication. I can be anywhere & I get infomation for someone. I can also have the spirit around me for a week or 2 before I meet the person. I guess, that has shown, that they know some events of the future.

I wish they would give me the lotto numbers. ;)

The assumption is quite the opposite, that the spirits are there all the time, and they are trying to communicate with everyone, however only a few people are able to hear.

doc z pretty much has it--It's like broadcasting on a radio they can tune in to. Those who want to communicate are drawn to those who can communicate with them. I do believe it has to do with energy, but I've heard quite a few people refer to it as being like a beacon in the darkness to them.

Frequency, like the signal of a radio. If a certain spirit senses that the frequency of a particular person's thoughts are the same as the one it has, then it means that communication with that particular person is possible. Otherwise, if the frequencies are different, the link between the two entities would never be established. Yes, spirits choose who it wants to communicate with them.
