  1. You're kidding, right?  It's a well known FACT that dancers... and that is ALL dancers... Ballerinas included... have the absolute world's worst diet. Ballerinas probably have the worst and many are even anorexic because they have a constant fight to keep their weight down... for the male lead dancer to lift a 300 pound ballerina, he would have to be built like King Kong.

Years ago I toured Easter Europe with a ballet troop as one of their pianoists, so I played for their rehearsals and I got to know a lot of the girls and the one thing I remember is the way they ate such little meals and how most of them looked like they had just walked out of a WW2 Concentration Camp.

  2. I wouldn't know from personal experience, but ballet dancers that I have worked with personally usually follow strict low-calorie diets. Some are vegetarian, others need some protein to keep up their strength depending on the person. Regardless, they're always very health concious, because a few extra pounds really can be a hindrance, at least from what I have been told. In any case, I've never seen an overweight ballet dancer that was successful, although a lot can be very built simply by nature of the dancing.

Again, this isn't from personal experience, just what I've been told from having worked with dancers before, so don't just take my word for it.
