Do you have any ideas for science and social studies curriculum for pre-k and k?

I'm hoping to find printables and good websites with free worksheets, coloring pages, etc. dealing with science and social studies. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to teach these topics and what I should start with? My children are 4 and 6 and my 6 y.o. is more like kindergarten/first grade. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. I know this list is going to be very long, however social studies includes just about everything these day's, and is a catch all name for multiple subjects.

These subjects can be done successfully in unit studies.

Hope these will be of some help to you.

This site does require a $20.00 yearly fee to have full use of all their printable materials, but it is well worth it.

You can check them out for free, but it is a lot of curriculum in one place.

  2. you should Google social studies for ages 4- 6

  3. Library books. There are a lot of DK and Usborne books that are great for science and social studies. Sonlight even uses many of the Usborne books as part of their science curriculum.

Science is best taught through exploration (growing pea plants in large styrofoam cups at that age works great!), even if the exploration is limited to learning the names of different types of fish from a book. At that age, it really doesn't matter what specific topic you start with. Just find something they're interested in. You don't need worksheets, especially for the 4yo. For colouring pages, just pick the specific topic you want and then do a search and see if something is available.

  4. best thing i can suggest is most likely googling it

    im sorry

but maybe buying a few cds, or leap frog may help
