  1. salsa dancing is good. most places have a bar so if you dont want to dance/ dont feel confident enough to dance, you could have a drink at the bar and watch. most of the people who are there will be in the same position as you too, so you wont be alone

  2. There are loads of factors to take into account here.

Age, location, single/married, what do you like etc etc - give us a bit more info

  3. s*x... dress like you are looking and you will meet a lot of people....

  4. Check out your local Community College for the Adult Continuing Ed Class. I'm sure you will find something interesting . Good Luck ;))))

  5. Aww I have the same problem wish I can help :P

  6. Take up a course at your local adult education centre, they have a wide variety of subjects and skills to choose from, or join an amateur dramatics society - even if you don't like the idea on being on stage there are lots of  jobs to be done backstage and in organising shows :)

  7. Join a club which centers on an activity you like or are interested in - quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, chess, music, etc. Check your local library, adult-education, and park-district office for free/low-cost activities you're interested in, because they have book discussion groups and all sorts of classes - genealogy, computer stuff, gardening, financial planning, stained-glass, and more.

The 'best-of-all' thing to do is volunteer - animal shelters need people to clean house and walk dogs, nursing homes LOVE to have people come and talk, read, or listen to residents. There are lots of programs that teach you how to tutor adults in literacy skills, and 'Meals on Wheels' always needs help. If you have any particular skills, you can volunteer to teach it at your local library or community center.

There are so MANY possibilities - I hope you find something you love!

  8. What sort of people do you want to meet? If you want to meet 'a bloke' then my suggestion probably won't help, but if you just want to get out and meet some people to talk to, then it might.

There are lots of knitting groups sprouting up all over the place - and there is a large online knitting community. There's a lot of twaddle being said about it ("Knitting is the new black", "Knitting is a feminist statement" etc), but there is a 'new wave' of knitters that really doesn't fit the stereotype of grannies making toilet roll covers.

Ravelry.com is a huge knitting networking site (you need to sign up for it, but at the moment they are processing sign-ups in about 2 days) - there you can join groups with similar interests to you - it's also an excellent place to find out about any local groups. Members range from professionals with years and years of designing experience to complete beginners. (And even some non-knitters).

  9. If you want to get involved with a group, you're going to need to get motivated to search around and ask some questions.  Don't be too shy! :)

Your local craft store should have classes, or your church or community center may have a list available of craft groups that meet regularly.

Your local historical society or a homeschooling group would also be a good places to connect with others and learn new things (crafts, sewing, soapmaking, etc.)

A few good social crafts: quilting, rug hooking, scrapbooking, etc.

If you can't find what you're looking for, you could put up an advertisement and start your own crafting group.  Some of my girlfriends and I get together every Christmas and do a craft of some sort.

There are also online communities that do crafts for good causes, like crocheting, knitting and sewing for preemie babies or still born babies.

I also enjoy genealogical research and creating family history books out of old family photographs.  It has given me a chance to interview my oldest living relatives, and preserve their stories and photographs for my kids.  With the online photobooks, I can publish several copies to give to family members.

Hope you find something that you enjoy, and some great friends!
