  1. honestly i dont do that i make sure i have enough food for my children and my hubby but i dont make sure i have food for people who drop by without notice its rude to come by without calling and its even more rude to show up with no notice and expect me to feed you!!!

  2. packet of nut roast mix

    rice

pitta bread and oven chips in the freezer

  3. I always make sure I have 'party food' for any unxpected hungry visitors, ie, nachos, chicken wings, BBQ ribs, potato skins, breaded mushrooms, etc, they are quick to cook and everyone likes them, just make a salad to go with it.

  4. Make a lasagne freeze it with some chips and tomato soup in packets.

  5. At this time for a lot of people they do not even have it for them self

never mind to be planning for a lot of people or even one who are going to,

or may be dropping in. If I should drop in on any one and they do not have any thing to entertain me what can I say?? nothing because I did not give them any thing to put up so do not let that bother you, I would not!.That's why they should let   you know they are coming to see you and when!!!. TIME IS HARD FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. It may be a little (goodish) for

you and I but for many others. Things are not good @ all so do not let any one put unnecessary exp enc on you if it does not have to be !!.<<<<<<

  6. We get unexpected callers quite a lot - and they're always hungry.

So - for summertime, I'd advise you to keep savoury crackers in the pantry, and a few good cheeses and salad stuff in the fridge, then fresh or canned fruit, ice cream and posh cookies.

At very least have in some good canned soup, veggie if possible, and some decent bread in the freezer. If you cook, of course, make a big batch of veggie soup and freeze it in handy blocks.

So can we all come to tea, lol?

  7. sneeze over the food and you wont get anymore unexpected guests

  8. hot dogs

  9. Pasta is a good thing to have on hand.  It cooks quick and you can put any sauce on it that you want.  Also keep frozen stir fry vegetables and meat.  It is quick and easy.

  10. yes although i live alone friends call round so i'm pretty organised about it.I always have frozen veg including diced onions, chicken portions and bread/pitta bread.keep tins of chopped tomates condensed soups and pasta.as long as you've got herbs and spices you can create meals easily.also tinned or frozen fruit and icecream creates an easy dessert.

  11. The cheapest, easiest, but still impressive meal entirely from the cupboard: garlic chilli spaghetti.

The cheapest stuff you can have onhand: dried spaghetti, dried chilli flakes, dried minced garlic or garlic granules (NOT garlic powder), possibly dried parsley or other herbs (optional, but looks nice) olive oil, and stock cubes. Boil the kettle, make the spaghetti in heavily salted water, make the stock cube up with half a cup of water, fry up the garlic, chilli and parsley in a little olive oil, AS SOON AS the garlic is golden (before it crisps) pour in the liquid stock (approx 190ml I think from one cube?) and bring back to the boil, stirring and scraping everything off the bottom of the pan. Let that bubble away while you drain the spaghetti thoroughly, then toss the sauce with the spaghetti and serve immediately. The ingredients will cost you about €7 (or equivalent) to buy in one hit, and last for ever in the store cupboard.

Otherwise, we tend to have the stuff we eat a lot of anyway - potatoes, carrots, root veggies, dried pasta, tinned tomatoes, herbs, bread, ham, cheese, salad veg, sauces...

So bangers and mash is an easy meal, or pasta with tomato sauce or just garlic and chilli spaghetti. Or if it's around lunchtime, sandwiches or burgers.

Usually buy in bulk (cheaper) then freeze in individual portions as there're only 2 of us. This is handy for unexpected guests, as I can defrost what we need (yay the microwave!). I've pretty much stopped buying chicken breast as it's so expensive, and instead buy whole boneless turkey b*****s and slice them up into steaks myself, and wrap individually - great for quick stir-fries or pasta, or for a steak-and-chips style meal.

Snacks are a bit trickier, as if we're feeling peckish we pop to the corner store, but this works too - usually just send the boyfriend out for a pack of biscuits/chips/whatever while I make tea.

  12. Bread cakes, fresh tomatoes and goats or another grillable cheese plus fresh garlic and basil. I have fresh basil in my kitchen all year round now from home grown seeds - it's fantastic.

Pop your split breadcakes into the oven (200degC) for a couple of mins meanwhile chop the toms and grate one clove of garlic - add olive oil (best done in a food prcessor if poss) then spoon onto the bread and add a generous slice of cheese and return to the oven for 10 mins - delicious!

2 toms. per person + 1 tbsp olive oil for 2 toms.

1 clove of garlic is enough to flavour for four persons

    This is easy and delicious!

  13. This are my 'unexpected guests" meals:

Baked beans to go with toast or a jacket potato cooked in the microwave.

Spaghetti and a jar of pasta sauce, or a jar of pesto.

Can of tuna, another of sweetcorn and a small jar of mayonnaise. Goes with pasta or on a jacket potato.

  14. Ring Dominoes, if they dont like pizza thay can go home!

  15. Snacks are always good. Sandwiches, juices, sodas and fruits!

  16. Bread (sandwiches/toast & toasties), tin meat, cheese, biscuits, pasta, soup, tins etc.
