This is from a nutrition questionnaire but what do 'plaster' and clay 'refer 'to?

  2. Theres a mental disorder called pica that causes cravings for non-nutritional substances such as clay or candlewax. It occurs largely in children, but can affect adults. In the book "Running with scissors" his mother is depicted as eating blocks of candlewax during her "episodes".

  5. i lived withat clay pica for 20 yrs.going 2 different doct some laugh it off some prescribed iron bcz i was anemic,which nevr helped.i used to be very weak if i dont get the clay.

    personaly i found suplmenting with vit B boosted Brewers east tablets effective.i added 3 in my oats every day.but it was a hard battle.whenevr i felt it i ete sweets.this is not fiction i used 2 eat at least 2cups a dy.and try 2 be negative which is not easy its like smooking thou its not an addiction something is missng i guss minerals. good luck

  7. Pica (the desire to eat items with no nutritional value) is also a symptom of anaemia.

    I'm severely anaemic and have urges to l**k porcelain, china and glass.  I found myself doing this absentmindedly on several occasions before starting ferrous sulphate.

    Where there is no medical reason for this, it can be classed as a mental disorder.
