Question:

Do you have experiences with repeated mammograms?

I had one 3 years ago and they made me come back because they saw something. Well the something was a shadow they figure because nothing was there and the ultrasound tech couldn't figure out why I had to come back again.

Now they are doing the same thing to me again. "Oh we see something, you need to come back in." (My second appointment is tomorrow.)

I'm young and there is not history of cancer in my family. But they have also done this same thing to my mother and her sister repeatedly.

I have good medical insurance. Could there be a possibility that is why they have me and others coming back again and again for nothing?

The medical facility here has the monopoly and the prices are enormous compared to other places.

Or is it because their testing is faulty?

  1. Well let me tell you this, we have a family friend that was going in each year for a complete phyical and this last one she went into the barely caught the cancer in her breats... so she was probably one of the lucky one if thats considered lucky..

You should do what they want you to do.. Believe it or not not all docs are after the money some are though so its hard to tell.. but best of luck to you and its better to have it checked as many times as need to be just incase..

  2. There are certain types of b*****s that just have a lot of tissue (fibrous structures and cysts) that get in the way of being a "clean" mammogram. It is not uncommon, in those cases, for some women to come in a 2nd time, year after year.

If you can PROVE they are bringing you in because of "nothing", then they are guilty of fraud, and that is breaking federal law. It is unlikely that is the situation.

Family history, or lack thereof, is not as clear an indicator of breast cancer as the media wants it to be, unless someone has the BRCA-1 or BRCA-2 breast cancer gene mutation.

    >75% of women with breast cancer had NO significant family history.

You don't say how young you are, but I would get the additional views, in any case. (is that how they phrased it???"we see something"? Who is "we"?)

It would not be out of line to seek breast imaging care elsewhere next time. I work 2 buildings over from our "competition". No worries...we both have plenty of work.

  3. Baby it could be that there testing is faulty, i suggest that you go else where.
