I am in canada near a lake and they are bad this summer. They are starting to pile up under the street lights. Do other places have fish flies (a.k.a. mayflies) or is it just where I am living?

  1. there are alot of mayflies in sort of damp areas. not really in dry places like deserts.

  2. In NC, I believe so.

We have lots of lakes and rivers here.

  3. Thank god they are not around where I live, I've seen them but they don't "pile up" or anything of the sort.

  4. nope, not that kind of fly in Las Vegas. We do have scorpions though

  5. i live in USA... ever heard of it???eh.

  6. I'm not sure...I live in Louisiana and we have a lot of mosquitos

  7. wat r fishflies????????????

  8. Swarms of mayflies are a good indication of a healthy water supply.  All states with running or standing water have mayflies but the enormous swarms that occurred in the past do not happen as often.  The males swarm usually for just one day waiting for the females who immediately lay their eggs in the water.  Instead of thinking of them being bad you should drop a line in that lake, it will be a good year for the fish.

  9. oh yes.  I am from the Delta in the US.  We have lots of rice fields and therefore, like every bug you can imagine!

  10. none in Connecticut that i've ever heard of/seen

  11. I live in Ohio and have never really heard of 'em. Just looked it up on Wikipedia, and I've never seen one. They don't look pretty, though.
