  1. Stepson - Age 5 (cuz that's probably important)

    - The Park

    - The Library - They often have free "shows" and activities

    - Play area in the mall

    - Once in a great while - a fast food place that has a play area

    - Outside activities - he can dig or play with cars, etc. (If we had a good backyard - long story - I'd get him a slip and slide or mini pool and take him out there a for a bit each day

    - The Beach

    - Arts and Crafts - paintings, play doh, etc.

    - learning time - I work on his writing, word recognition, and number stuff with him a little bit each day

    - museums

    - free city activities

    - I signed him up for a beginner's karate class

  2. It is not my job to entertain my kids. They have to learn to entertain themselves but to do that they need the tools. So mine have toys, bikes, books all the usual stuff.

As to what fun things do I do. well it has been school holidays for the last two weeks (school went back today). We have been to the beach twice for a walk along the pier one day and on another day trip we had a drink and an ice cream at a cafe and then went climbing over rocks and exploring. Another day we went to the snow (winter in Australia) where it snowed the whole time we were there which was fantastic. I took my daughter to see Disney on Ice, we went bike riding and walking, we went to the movies, to the park, to play racketball. They have also had lot's of time at home just to chill and entertain themselves. They are home sick today (great way to start the school term lol), one is watching the Wizard of Oz and the other is reading Lion ,witch and the wardrobe. My daughter has played with her Ello most of the morning and my son has done nothing but read. They also love to cook and swim and play boardgames. They do also play on the computer and PS2 at times

  3. My 3 year old son loves the vacuum cleaner. I know, weird, but he has always loved them. I find I can use "I'll let you vacuum if you finish your (whatever:orange slices, picking up toys). I throw confetti on the floor and he vacuums it up and loves it! Hah, I don't know if all kids like this sort of stuff. He also loves to go to the car wash...and of course vacuum out the car. You can make an afternoon out of going to the car wash. Stop and get a drink on the way, drive the long way, get ice cream after.

  4. Swimming, park, reading, dress-up (if you have girls), I join their dance routines in the living room, they karaoke, we play card games and *pink monopoly*, we go for walks, I take them to lunch, we do flash cards. They work out and do yoga with me in the mornings and late afternoons, daily. They get so silly with it, it's fun.

My husband teaches them golf, tennis and takes them fishing. Tennis is about the only thing I'm good at to play well with them, too. I don't fish, because I'm a vegetarian - plus, I just think fish are gross- that;s my husbands area.

Just lots of random stuff. It's not my job to *entertain* them 24/7. They play with each other well enough, as well.

  5. i play hide n seek with mine and they love it. i also play keep the house clean and when i play that game with them you have to make a list of things to do and if they cant read you tell them what to do and who ever gets there chore done first gets to pick a move or toy what ever it is they would like. just make up your own rules for it and they will love it. but you have to make it fun for everyone not just the winner

  6. With my soon to be 4 yr old daughter I buy those bead kits and we make bead jewelry,or when I bake I let her help out with the mixing of ingredients and filling the pans or containers with batter and whatnot.  I also got her a child safe pottery wheel(sell em at Walmart) and we make stuff and even my 1 yr old gets her fingers dirty with it every now and again, I also play her games with her...we bought her a gameboy advance a year or 2 back and bought her the Dora Learning Games for it and she plays them once every 2 days or so and she has really learned a lot from them and I also can help her so its a family thing. We also count together, like when we make stuff we count out how many eggs it takes and how many ounces of milk etc...she really gets into the learning things...she also likes to help me clean so I bought her a mini broom and mop so she can help me clean when she feels like it.

With my 1 yr old its pretty much anything we can find is fun for her. She likes her big sister's Vtech computer that has learning games on it so we will sit and all three of us will play it together, and she like peek a boo,and hide and seek.  We also high 5 a lot...those girls can not get enough of it lol
