  1. Given the fact that Favre was upset that the Packers didn't get his coach (Mariucci) and his WR (Moss) and the last three years dealing with his flip-flopping on retirement, they get more of my respect.

He became a prima-donna in the likes of T.O. (pre Dallas) and Chad Johnson.  Just because he made a "final decision" on retirement and got pissed when the Pack wasn't begging him to come back is no excuse to act that way.

It's a shame, really, that someone that seemed like such a good example for all pro athletes was really just like all the other overpaid whiners.

  2. I think both sides are to blame for this. I wouldn't pass judgment because I don't really have all the facts.

  3. I gained a ton of respect for the Packers organization. For anybody to say that Favre made the Packers is unbelievable. Learn some history of the game.

  4. They would have had a better season this year had they kept Favre but then a season or two away Rodgers might have been useless or demanded a trade.  Rodgers is only 25 and Favre is 38.  With Brian Bhrom in the background it was best for the Packers to move to the future.  If Rodgers isn't the guy maybe Bhrom is.  But he would be third on the depth chart and having Favre around would hamper his growth as well.  It would be an awful thing to waste a Tom Brady like player just to hold on for an aging veteran.  I love Favre and he was the best chance to win this year but he retired and the team moved on.  So thats the way it goes in the NFL.

It terms of respect for the team, if Favre hadn't quit then asked to come back in March then changed his mind again then maybe I would have lost respect but I didn't see anyone holding a gun to his head during his retirement speech.

  5. Less respect.

He made Green Bay the franchise that it is.

Favre is proven and Rogers is not, and to offer Favre 25 million not to play the game that he loves is just obnoxious.

  6. Less respect.

They traded the better quarter-back so they could give Rodgers a chance. I don't care how old Brett is he will always be way better than Rodgers. Anyways yesterday there were 32,000 Brett Favre jerseys sold yesterday. There won't be any Packer fans left. I live in WI and most of the people became Jets fans. We all hate the Packers.

  7. More.  They made a decision for the best of the team, not one individual.

  8. Definitely less respect.  They offered Brett Favre more money to sit on the bench, than a lot of players get payed to actually play.  Let's face it, Aaron Rodgers has never started a game in his life, and has no idea what the NFL is like, but Favre, they know is still good and knows what's going on.  Rodgers sucks and They need Favre.  I have no respect for the Packers anymore.  They suck.

  9. More.  It looks like Favre was planning to retire and unretire at the end of every season until he got too old to move.  If this has been the first of his "unretirements", then I would say Green Bay was wrong.

  10. i have total respect...favre retired..they moved on...i lost all respect for the interception king brett favre

  11. Packers obviously mishandled the situation, but is not all their fault.  Favre kept waffling on his decision.  The Packers made a commitment to move on.  Favre could not make a decision.  When asked to return earlier this spring, Favre changed his mind again.  An organization cannot go forward when one individual is holding up things.  Favre wanted attention.  He wanted the Packers to beg him to return.  And when they didn't, you see what happend.  So it is not all the Packer's fault.  It will be interesting to see what Favre does this next offseason with the Jets.

To answer your question, I do not disrespect the Packer's for what happened.  Actually, I lost respect for Favre.  If he did not want to retire, then he should not have done so.  It was his decision to retire that started all this.  He then made it worse by waffling when he was asked to return.

  12. more respect..they gave him every chance to change his mind...they moved on, he all of a sudden wants back...too bad. He acted like a Diva doing interviews and wanting all this attention. They stuck to their guns and moved on...good for them...

  13. I have more respect for the Packers & less for Brett Favre simply because the Packers moved on after Favre announced his retirement & he changes his mind & has been whiny about the whole thing & even though he was probalbly the best QB that Green Bay has had on their team, the Packers aren't just about one player & what he wants. Brett shouldn't have retired & all this mess could have been avoided.

  14. Packer fan here, I will always respect the Packers. There was too much conflict and that wasn't healthy for the whole situation. I understand they had to move on.  However, why would anyone give up a future Hall of Famer?  Packer fans everywhere love Brett and Brett loves the city of Green Bay.  It would have been sweet, but the game must go on. When your a true fan your for our team, I wish Brett well and I hope he goes out with the bang he's looking for and he so deserves.

  15. Less.

  16. Both sides could have handled things better.  I think Brett is kind of a cry baby and showed a lot of immaturity on his part the way he acted.  Crying during the press conference, than changing his mind, being so sensitive towards the packers.  They are a business and they have to handle things professionally.  There's a lot of money at stake, rosters and positions that were filled.  They can't just change all their plans because Brett keeps changing his mind.  Now I will let this year prove me right or wrong.  If the Packers SINK, than his value was underestimated (perhaps even by myself and the comments I just made).  You never want to lose a valuable player but you cant have a revolving door and let a guy retire, come back, retire and have no contingency plan for the future.  I understand why they did what they did.  But how it plays out will be very interesting.  As far as the Jets are concerned, they have flip flops years.  One winning season, than terrible, winning, and terrible again.  If Favre can take them over the top and give them consistance also remains to be seen?

No loss of respect for Packers, a loss of respect for Favre maturity although I could never lose respect for his ability and accomplishments!
