I am 37 weeks pregnant, and about 2-3 weeks ago I started having horrible pain in that area, along with lower back pain. It hurts so bad to walk that I hobble. It hurts to get dressed so I sit down while dressing. It hurts like h**l to turn over in bed. I think the ps pain is what's triggering my lower back pain. I'm no stranger to pain, but this is interfering with my normal life (and making working very difficult).

Do you have pubic symphysis pain, and how bad is it? What do you do about it? How far along are you? (I'm sure some discomfort/stretching is normal....I'm talking about severe pain that interferes with normal life)

  1. gosh, you ar e lucky, i had it from 16 weeks. within a few months a could hardly walk it was so bad. i started going to see a physio then it got so bad, she had to make house calls as it was just so bad i couldnt get to see her. i had to either get a family member to drive me to the midwife, or it was a taxi there and back.

i got a support belt, which helped a bit. id advise you try to get a belt or see a physio.

  2. yes i have this pain ive had it since i think 29 weeks although worse now. i find it difficult looking after my 2 children and had to finish work before i wanted to as i couldnt cope with the pain. i have cruthes but i dont use them as my oungest is only 2 and trying to use them and control a 2 year old is impossible! i understand your pain and there really isnt much you can do about it, havve you seen a physio? they will help you and give you tips on ways to reduce it. (it hasnt worked for me though). good luck with it all we havent got long to go. im 38 weeks 2 days.

  3. I am 35 weeks and about a mth ago I started having this pain I just thought that it was normal. I never even told anyone but my hubby that i have this pain.Something that I found is before I go to bed is a take a bath I even lay there for an hr the water helps relaxes me. also pillows are my best friend I have one to put between my legs, one for my tummy and when i roll over in bed I roll over with my pillows and try taking my whole body.I am on bed rest so i don't get to move much out of be, but walking does hurt sitting hurts alot. I don't want to take meds so this is what i do. gl

  4. I sure to my dr told me last week, cause iv been telling him for the last month that i cant stand to get dressed i cant lift one leg, to put them in my pants, it hurts to walk up and down stairs, all that fun stuff,it sucks i know but you are almost there its almost over good luck

  5. I started getting SPD @ around 16 weeks but my midwife kept dismissing it as part of being pregnant even though I insisted and insisted, telling her i couldn't walk and was in tears most days. It took for it to really mess with my back resulting in me now having Sacroillitis and being signed off work two weeks before my mat leave was due, be very careful as this can lead to permenant damage. It is your body, your pregnancy and you know what is right or wrong - don't let them fob you off, it is very painful and they can help you. You can be offered physio, support corsets and crutches, mine got so bad they gave me Codeine.
