Do you have respect for the government ?

If yes why & if not why ?

I'm in the UK so this question is really aimed at the UK gov, but others feel free to answer just state what gov you are talking about to avoid confusion. Ty :)

  1. No.  They've been awful from the start and have just got steadily worse as time went on.  

    It seems to be an exercise in stupidity and unfairness.  


  2. No, I'm embarassed by the people who represent my country (United States). The world has such a negative view on the U.S. and it doesn't help that our "leader" is an illiterate moron.

  6. Well I do not live in the UK, I'm from the US. But to answer your question anyway...No, I do not have very much respect for the american government at the current moment. The government is too big and full of greedy people.

  9. U.S.A - Yes, I am proud of my country and government. We aren't perfect, but who is? I can either spend my life bitching about whats "wrong" with this country or I can accept the fact that there is NO WAY to please everyone, that these people are doing the best they can and that I live in a FREE country.

    I choose to accept the facts and be proud of where I come from.

  11. Sadly no I don't have respect for the government. I respect that running the country is a massive responsibility, and I wouldn't want to do it, but I am probably more in touch with what the average British citizen wants from the Government than Brown, Cameron & Co are.

    I would respect them if they had the back bone to say, nope we can't take any more immigrants until we sort ourselves out.  I'm not against immigration, but in this "economic downturn" we can't just have the doors open to all and sundry.


  12. No only individuals. I wish I could choose my own cabinet from a mixture of all parties.( yes EVEN the Tories!)

    It would be full o people who have entered politics for the right reasons with a passion to serve the country and to eliminate injustice.

    My very first choice would be Terry Fields who died recently but epitomises everything an M.P should be. ( he only ever took a fireman's salary ).

    I think people only give 'respect' these days to whoever serves their own intrests. That certain policies would change the lives of the poorest in the country would matter not a jot to some voters.They just keep on screamin' about taxes.

  17. I have no respect for any politicians. They're all a bunch of greedy, money-grabbing, ruthless, power-hungry b******s. Once they get in power they tell as many lies and do whatever they can to keep that power and don't give 2 shiny shites about the country they're running or the problems that need solving.

  18. like already said,they have a huge responsibility,and its us the people who suffer,why do they tell so many lies knowing it will only cause more suffering,have they really got our interests at heart,i agree with what has been said about the immigration laws,especially with today's problems,security,this serious concern needs addressing,not allow more in to add more problems,sometimes we need to concentrate on us,not everyone else,same with the job markets,nhs,escalating drug problems,decline in general,no good waiting until its to late,so no i don't have any respect for the government,not until they respect us the people,peAce.how and why does so much of the problems exist,when they are not of our making,surely they can tighten the borders and do something about it,or did they create the decline in order to fight it,that's what i think.

  19. No, you have to earn respect. It's bad enough dealing with the every day running of the Country and getting that wrong but when they start interfering in things and aid in covering up serious crimes involving children, they deserve nothing but contempt.
