I am wondering if young people today still get silver fillings?

Yes dentists still place amalgam fillings.  As bad as they are, they actually last alot longer than the composite fillings. Amalgam is better for large cavities in the molar teeth as the composite ones will "leak" around the edges and in between over time.

I am 26 and I have silver fillings. However, my daughter is 8 and she has a silver cap and a few silver fillings as well. I think it just depends on the amount you are wanting to pay, and which dentist you go to. I opted for silver on my daughter because they are baby teeth and are going to fall out anyway, and my insurance paid 100%.

I'm 16 and a few years ago my tooth that had a silver filling fell out (because it was a baby tooth). A couple months ago I went to the dentist and she gave me white fillings. I didn't like it! They are so much whiter than my teeth. Some have a silver-colored stuff on top so all of that makes the inside of my mouth look kinda bad. I did get use to them.

Yes, I have quite a lot of silver fillings. I'm 26 (UK). But I got my first silver filling when I was about 13.

Yes, MANY silver fillings are still being placed.  They are still used for mostly cost reasons, even though we know that composite (white) fillings are much better, some people still optd for the silver.
