Do you have statistics for dyslexia rates by country?

Question

I'm trying to find statistics for the percentages of people suffering from dyslexia in different countries. It's easy to find figures for the UK and US, but I need some from other countries. I'm particularly interested in Holland, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada (English and French speakers), but any country's statistics would be helpful. If you know any figures or any websites where figures are available, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

I can not find any specific statistics into dyslexia within Australia. I did find a link from the Australian bureau of statistics, which mention dyslexia, however it is from 200.

some cases, as in Germany, the dyslexia rate is about half the U.S.

I think before you look for numbers, it might help to look at each country's attitude to and policies concerning dyslexia.  I live in an area of the UK where dyslexia was not acknowledged until recently; if, as an education authority, you don't acknowledge a learning difficulty, then you are less likely to have to make provision for special teaching and resources.  Parents in this area, with help from the BDA had to arrange and pay for their own assessments and fight for special provision in state schools.
