  1. Nope, not me.  I'm very self-conscious and I would think people were looking at me and speculating.  I DO realize no one would really be interested in why I was sitting alone, but there you go.

  2. Yes.  I think you will notice that more and more people are dining alone.

  3. If I did, I would sit at the bar as opposed to the dining room.

  4. yea, i would^^

esspecially if i just broke up with smoeone^^

  5. um yeah... why not?

  6. When I used to travel alot for business purposes I did this quite alot actually. I didn't mind it one bit. I used to go to fairly high-end restaurants near my hotel since most of the time I did not have a rental car and I had to take a cab or walk. I enjoyed these experiences and struck up several conversations with great people while sitting at the bar waiting on my table.

  7. sure why not?  single people have to eat too you know

  8. No, not because I'm chicken though. I eat out alone all the time and usually take a good book or a magazine with me but an excellent meal at a fine-dining restaurant is an experience that should be shared.

  9. There was a time when I never would've done that....now that I'm older it wouldn't bother me.  I mean, I'd rather go with my husband but if I was somewhere and he wasn't around - then yes I would do it.

  10. I have done it before when I was on a Staff Development meeting in a big city.  Hardly anybody in my area would go to these important meetings.  They just were not that interested in learning how to be better art teachers.  So, many times, I would go in a really nice upscale restaurant by myself.  I tried to just relax and enjoy it.  It was nice.  Grams

  11. why not if the food is good and you r hungry

  12. yes, I do....what does that matter....i have no problem eating anywhere i want

  13. Sure, why not? The staff will treat you exactly the same, or maybe even better since they know you don't have anyone else to distract you from the food and service.

  14. Yep...happens all the time...I do a lot of traveling for my job, and since my dining is on the company's dime, I do look for the places that are supposed to be best...

I don't care who else is eating there, I'm just enjoying good food FOR FREE!!!

    Whooooo.....

  15. Yep....I would EAT!

  16. I used to be too intimidated to do this.  When I started traveling extensively for work, my meals were paid for as a business expense, I also didn't always have a choice of lower priced restaurants in the area of my hotel, so I did what you ask frequently.  At first I felt awkward, but I realized I was the only one who was thinking about me.  I actually got to where I enjoyed it.  There is something very nice about eating well....alone, and being ok with it.  I encourage all women to be comfortable with this.  Now that I no longer do it, I kind of miss it.

  17. Sure.  I normally have dinner with my husband so that would be unusual, but ifI was alone in a strange city and I had heard great things about a restaurant and wanted to check it out, I wouldn't let being dateless stop me.

  18. Absolutely YES!

When I used to travel, I would always bring a book or two with me. At each restaurant, I would always ask for a table with sufficient light for reading and most were very accommodating.

Any preconceived notions about what other diners think about you sitting alone are based in your head and on how you think of others. If you don't notice them, they won't notice you.

The only disadvantage that I can think of to dining alone is that you don't have a companion who can order a different dish that you can nibble off of!

  19. just pick up an escort and have an unforgettable night.
