  1. Depends. I think state farm will let you at 13.  I had a checking account and ATM card at 11 I think.  Maybe things have changed but pretty sure you can get one before 18, but maybe not with overdraft or other credit card like features.

  2. If you want a visa logo debit card that is attached to a checking account, you must be 18. If however you have a parent on the account with you, and they allow you to use their card then that is between your parent & you. Banks require you be 18 to open an account.

Debit cards only come with ckg accounts & atm cards come with savings.

  3. You don't need to be 18 to have a debit card.

    Natwest: Switch / SOLO

    HSBC Switch

    Barclays Electron

and and if you want Maestro and or Mastercard, there are those new prepaid card.

No credit check,  you use it like a debit card, and you top up like a mobile phone. You can use your card abroad, and you can even have money paid in by anyone like a normal account.

  4. A FEW DAYS AGO I GOT THE CHASE HIGH SCHOOL CHECKING ACCOUNT FOR THOSE 13-17. IT IS LINKED TO A PARENTS ACCOUNT. MY PACKAGE COMES WITH A VISA CHECK CARD. THERE ARE NO SERVICE FEES. ALL THE RULES APPLY WITH THIS ACCOUNT EXCEPT IF YOU OVERDRAFT IT IS TAKEN FROM YOUR PARENTS. SO BE CAREFUL. IT CONVERTS TO A FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT WHEN YOU TURN 19.

  5. No, Natwest offers Maestro (Switch/Solo) debit cards to teens aged 12 and up. Barclays offers Electron VISA debit cards to the same age group and can be used where ever the VISA sign is advertised, including online. Lloyds TSB also offer debit cards to under 18s. Obviously, you won't be provided with any credit facilities, so you'll only be able to spend whats actually in your account, but there are certainly options out there for under 18s.
