  1. If they really didn't accept you because of that, then they're jsut being racist. (or whatever) So they would or should accept you because you can always sue them for that. (if you get rejected like that)

  2. Hi Megan. Not only can you go to school in Canada, but you can apply for the U.S. Government's Stafford Student Loan and your parents can apply for the Parents PLUS Loan as most Canadian Unviersities are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Everything you need to know about the process (from the differences in the education systems to a suggested packing list) is located on the website below. Good luck and enjoy a wonderful adventure!

  3. Yes, you can go to a Canadian university if you are American, but do keep in mind that you will have to apply as an international student. Fees for international students are higher than those for Canadian students but sometimes they're still lower than what you'd pay for a university education in the States.

I don't know where you are in school right now, but I'd suggest you look at the requirements for American students to apply as you may have to take certain classes in high school or get certain test scores and GPAs. UBC might be kind of selective so look into admission requirements as early as possible. Also, keep in mind that university in Canada is different than that in the US- you might have to adjust to different methods of learning and an undergrad degree in Canada might take less time there than here if there is no general education requirement. If that's the case, you may have to know what major you want to pursue when you go to a Canadian university as there will be no or less time to decide what major you want. Good luck!
