By law, probably not. That will vary from state to state. The handling of cigarettes and alcohol could also affect the legality of a minor working in a particular job.

By company policy and the rules set by their insurance provider, though, perhaps so. As a company, Trader Joe's does have the right to establish their own hiring practices. As long as they don't break anti-discrimination laws (And you can bet that their lawyers have *thoroughly* checked for this.), they can pretty much set any policy that they choose.
