I'm good at math and science but I'm not that good in drawing. I would love to become a car designer. I'm also good with computers can I design cars on the computer instead of drawing them?

  1. You should be good at drawing, even if a computer is used most of the time, because it will make designing something more natural.

  2. You could learn 3D modelling, which would allow you to create the model of the car within 3D software on the computer. This is the second stage of the design rather than the first, though - it would put you in the pipeline of car design, but you would not be the initial designer, as the initial design will always be with concept art and technical drawings.

If this is something you really want to do, you could learn to draw. Technical drawing is different to creative drawing and is very logical, making use of perspective and mathematical concepts, so you may find you are better at it than you think. If you can learn both that and 3D modelling as well, you would become a great asset to a car company. If that's your career goal, you should look for colleges which offer courses you can take in both.

    Good luck!

  3. i would think not be cause it's drawing a car design and so i would just say you only use a computer to be more presice

  4. Any professional artist will tell you that drawing is the basis of every other kind of art.  So yes, you must be able to draw to be a car designer
