Question:

Do you have to be huge to be a security guard?

I'm 14st medium build. Not slim but not exactly muscular or burly will I have much of a chance getting a doorman/security job or will I just get laughed at?

nb I do have a black belt in karate and reasonably strong

  1. Security jobs don't require you to be big and stron, and many times they don't care if you're in shape.  Guards have many different job duties.  Having a job as a doorman is different from having a job as a patrolman.  Now if you are talking about being a club bouncer, they do perfer you to be strong enough to throw people out and intimidate anyone from trying to force their way through.


  2. No. a buddy of mine is a SG here. He's old and out of shape but has a background in law enforcement so they signed him up no problem. In most countries you have mandatory  security training, there are lots of female security guards as well. You should be able to handle yourself but in most cases you just observe and call for police. You're kind of an expert witness sort of thing. You're not there to confront just to report.

  3. I don't see you having any trouble at all ,but have you had any misdemeanors in any other field,if so were they serious

    or not.If your answer is no ?Then go for it !
