  1. No, but you do have to be away with the fairies.

  2. No, our spirit will leave when we are in a relaxed state, even when we are actually awake.

  3. No, a relaxed state is true.  Krishna books offer a lot of advice on achieving this.  Read one years ago by chance then realised that's what I used to do as a kid - bit freaky!!

  4. No, there are two types of Astral Projection, similar to the two types of Lucid Dreaming.

A lucid dream can begin in one of two ways. A dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD) starts as a normal dream, and the dreamer eventually concludes that he or she is dreaming, while a wake-initiated lucid dream (WILD) occurs when the dreamer goes from a normal waking state directly into a dream state with no apparent lapse in consciousness.

In the same way, Astral projection can be done while unconscious and dreaming, or while meditating, yet still conscious.  The difference can be detected by your brainwave pattern with an Electroencephalograph (EEG).

While sleeping, you will have some Delta brainwaves, but while conscious, you will not have Delta brainwaves present.

Both will have Theta brainwaves, but only the conscious type will have Alpha brainwaves.

The unconscious and dreaming type is the most common and the easiest type to perform.

It is a much more advanced process to astral project while conscious.  It is also more vivid, controlled, and well remembered because your conscious mind transfers directly into your astral body instead of going from unconscious, to conscious while asleep.  The degree of "awakeness" and consciousness is much higher in the conscious astral projection.

Also, people are able to speak sometimes while consicously projecting, which is impossible while you are asleep.

  5. no, but you do have to be a douche bag to believe you can do that
