  1. No but its recommended, the air force train you for free and it's more fun for 10 years before you settle into flying a bus. In the UK a airline pilots license with instrument ratings can cost over £40,000...

  2. No, you don't had be airforce prior be corporate pilot.  There's many flight school; that can teach your class and help you earn a license in flying those jet.  But require lots of flying hours and $$$, joined the ariforce is good way; since they will paid of everything.  But a Airforce pilot does has better chance of get hired in major airline.  Because even if you got flying license in school, you still need flying hours; and those can be diffucult to get; require lots of OJT in junior airline.

  3. No, you do not have to be an ex-military pilot although many commercial pilot get their training through the military as it costs them nothing but time.  You can start at any flight centre learning to fly fixed wing aircraft until you solo and get your private licence.  That will cost you about $10,000 + unless you have a natural aptitude to flying.  Then you have to start working on licence endorsements such as Instruments, Night flying endorsement, mountain flying, all weather flying etc.  It can get quite costly.  Even a stint in the Air National Guard would be a stepping stone to getting your Commercial Ticket.

  4. No you don't have to be or been in the AF. There are flight schools that will teach you to fly.
